Helping Crown Cork & Seal Company Expand
it's Training
The Need
Crown
Cork & Seal founder, William Painter,
invented the bottle cap or "crown cork" a
century ago. Today, Crown Cork & Seal
is among the world's packaging leaders operating
in 44 countries and employing 28,000. When
Brookwood Media Arts was approached by The
Crown & Seal Company to develop Web-based
training, their subject matter experts were
traveling throughout the world approximately
60% of the year. Implementing WBT meant cutting
travel significantly for training experts,
which allowed more time to develop new projects
and future expansions.

The Solutions
Through the effective use of WBT strategies,
Crown Cork and Seal's WBT applications are
accessible to over 15,000 students and include
software stimulators, narration and animation
for slow bandwidth connections to over 250
plants worldwide. This Web-based training includes "media
rich" software simulations and comprehensive
testing and tracking which is stored in a database
at their central location in Philadelphia ,
PA. The training program is easy to navigate
as students can select a subject at any time,
bookmark a section and print a hardcopy of
any screen. The "Return Investment" for Crown
Cork & Seal began when the 2 nd plant implemented
the training and completed the Gauge Capabilities
Training. Today over 160 plants are using the
program successfully.
The Key Advantages
- Tests can be scored and tracked;
correct and incorrect feedback is given.
- Content is delivered in small
chunks for increased retention rates and maximum
download efficiency.
- Crown Cork & Seal is saving
over $500,000 per year through implementing
this type of Web-based training.
